What We Do

Grow Jackson is a nonprofit working to end food insecurity in Jackson, Michigan through gardens, education, and fresh food access. We manage community and school gardens, host free nutrition programs, and provide paid job training for local youth. Your donation helps us grow healthy food, teach valuable skills, and build a stronger, healthier community—one garden at a time.

Why Support Grow Jackson?

Supporting Grow Jackson means investing in a healthier, more connected community. We turn unused spaces into gardens that feed families, teach students how food affects their health, and provide local youth with paid job training and life skills. Our programs fight food insecurity while empowering people of all ages to grow, cook, and share fresh food. Every dollar you give helps us plant seeds of change—creating lasting impact through education, access, and opportunity right here in Jackson.

How will my donation be used?

These funds will be used to maintain our community gardening program and our food rescuing program. Currently we are raising funds to get a better vehicle for next season, secure a permanent location to expand our food production capacity, and contribute to our staffing and programming expenses. Our community gardening program engages young people and community members in gardening education, food justice conversations, and food access initiatives.
