What we do
Grow Jackson works to make accessing fresh food easier for Jackson community members experiencing food insecurity. This crisis is a public health problem. While these issues affect everyone, those who have been marginalized in our community because of race, socioeconomic position, or both, feel the effects of food insecurity at a higher rate than many of their neighbors.
Why Support Grow Jackson?
Grow Jackson is a brand new organization in Jackson County founded by three students and recent college grads with a huge passion for working to help address this public health problem. Funds donated to Grow Jackson will be handled by people who care about making a measured impact, value partnerships with other local groups, and work to keep equity at the center of our decision-making process.
Ways to Give
To support Grow Jackson, and our mission to end food insecurity for Jackson residents by increasing the availability of fresh food and produce, there are many ways to give.
- Support Grow Jackson with an online payment.
- Mail a check to Grow Jackson at our office at 740 W. Michigan Ave Jackson, MI 49201
- Support one of our specific initiatives in our Campaign option under the Get Involved tab using Check, PayPal, or credit card.
How will my donation be used?
These funds will be used to help with our initial operations cost, to fund our board development and nonprofit skills, and to establish our first program, Food Distribution. This program will include buying food directly in addition to reclaiming it each week.
How can I help if I can’t give financially?
Grow Jackson is committed to building and maintaining an incredible volunteer base to facilitate community engagement. We provide opportunities for our neighbors concerned with health discrepancies that exist because of food insecurity to make an impact.
